Mako and Raleigh move to Japan primarily on the basis of Mako's engineering background to reconstruct a power grid for the new city rebuild. Raleigh's brain concentrates more on boots-on-the-ground kind of stuff: building a porch for the tiny-ass house they're living in, etc etc. He has received numerous invitations for boxing/fighting matches being held different places - all haphazard, but the one he accepts earlier this day is more of an exhibition hanbo sparring thing held in the neighborhood.

Basically, Raleigh's not home when Mako gets home, and when he does he will be all sweaty. Go!]

"Not shower?"

At the moment, however, his chest makes a very good pillow.

"Why? You like me smelly apparently."

"It is not a bad smell."

And now the both of them are sweaty, so who really notices?

Raleigh nods.




-- But must have just gotten an idea, by his expression.

"Or I could shower, and we can eat food naked and watch the telescreen for a while."

She pauses, as if needing to think about it.

"Or we could shower."

It's possible the food may require reheating.

"So you are trying to kill me."

That might be a 'yes'.

[co_pilot]

"You question my intentions?"

Which are nothing but honorable.

Clearly.

[dontchaserabbits]

"Me? Never."

[co_pilot]

"Mmm."

But she kisses him first before sliding off him, disappearing into the adjoining washroom.

It only takes Raleigh about twenty seconds to follow.

(The udon is practically glacial by the time they get to it.)

She's swimming in one of his shirts and little else, wet hair tucked behind both ears as she wields her chopsticks, bare feet trapped between his thigh and the couch cushions.

"How was your day?"

"Finally went to one of those neighborhood matches they're setting up in the Square every other week. It was good. Fun. You should come with me next time."

[co_pilot]

"I will."

They both know her schedule, but she won't pass up the opportunity to see him.

She curls her toes against his leg, a subtle dig.

[dontchaserabbits]

"To fight, not to ogle."

Raleigh snaps a chopstick against Mako's knee.

"It might be a good release from your current occupation."

[co_pilot]

"I do not - ogle."

Have we forgotten who was originally leading before the Marshal called a stop?

"Do we not remember you when I got home?"

Raleigh does.

Clearly.

"...Maybe that's a thing I could do, though."

[co_pilot]

Can she really be blamed?

"Perhaps we should not face each other. I wouldn't want to distract you."

[dontchaserabbits]

"Or be accused of public indecency."

Sometimes the community here can find a problem with the idea of Raleigh and Mako dropping their staffs to just start making out with each other. Imagine that.

"No, I meant...what about me, working at a place like that?"

It is not how most fights typically end between other people.

The smile catches in her eyes first before rising on her lips, and she nods once, encouragingly.

"I think that is a good idea."

[dontchaserabbits]

"I don't know what the first steps are, but maybe you can help me out with that."

[co_pilot]

"I would. Gladly."

Better pay attention, Mr. Becket, because now you have a lap full of your co-pilot.

(It's a comfortable place from which to watch the telescreen. Even if she isn't doing much in the way of watching.)

(Neither is Raleigh.)

"Glad you approve of the idea then."

"It isn't very hard for you to win that."

[dontchaserabbits]

"You disagree with me sometimes.


"Right?"

"Sometimes."

She is not above offering her opinion on certain subjects.
